Date: Tuesday 7/8/08                                           Day:12 of my journey
Rome, Italy

Fun! By definition this is an adjective that means providing amusement or enjoyment. Some synonyms include amusing, delightful, diverting, enjoyable, entertaining, and pleasurable. Some may describe this spending a day out with some good friends and a scattered scavenger hunt. Perfect! This was the perfect word to describe my fun day.

Today was the day of the Roman Riddle Rally. Our task was to visit all the main sights in Rome and answer questions in our teams. I was excited and we had to go fast. Unfortunately, two people in our team needed to go to the restroom, so we watched everyone run ahead of us while we stood there waiting for them to finish doing their business. First we ran to the Spanish steps. We saw a sign leading toward a building with some steps, unfortunately instead of counting the real Spanish steps we counted the steps leading to the real steps. This was our first wrong answer. We then rushed over to the Trevi fountain. Our task was to count the number of pillars in the fountain. We correctly counted 4 small and 4 large. Which was eight total. Stop three was the pillar of Marcus Aurelius. We needed to find out who was on top of the column. The news stand guy told us in his accent that it was Saint Paul. We rushed to the Pantheon. We ran past every building and its grandmother before we found it. We took time to admire the amazing architecture. Then we had to find out what the inscription on top of the pantheon was. That was the last wrong answer we had. Finally we reached our last stop of Marcus Aurelius's obelisk. To our surprise we were there second team. This was because most of the other teams stopped at McDonalds. I was ecstatic we had a chance at winning as long as the other team got more wrong answers than us.

Next, we drove to Montecatelli, Italy. The bus ride was supposed to be 6 hours. Unfortunately, it was an 8 hour drive. I pass the time by talking to my best friend John Greco... Jr. We watched The Kingdom, Family Guy Blue Harvest, and the Bud Light commercials to pass the time. After John fell asleep, i had nothing to do. Luckily for me, the view was amazing. The Hills were covered in grass and flowers. Whether it was a gentle babbling brook or a tall mountain there were beautiful sights all around. The last hour of our ride was up a intimidating mountain. I was amaze how the driver made all of those hair-pin turns on a bus! To end our day we gathered outside the hotel. Some of us marveled at the view and the others played three flies up.
